演題:Is it really all about me? Social versus informational message content on
Twitter
日時:1/14
17:30〜18:30
場所:東京大学本郷キャンパス 法文2号館第3会議室
要旨:
In this
work we examine the characteristics of social activity and patterns of
communication on Twitter, a prominent example of the emerging class of
communication systems we call "social awareness streams." We use system data
and message content from over 350 Twitter users, applying human coding and
quantitative analysis to provide a deeper understanding of the activity of
individuals on the Twitter network. In particular, we develop a
content-based categorization of the type of messages posted by Twitter
users, based on which we examine users? activity. Our analysis shows two
common types of user behavior in terms of the content of the posted
messages, and exposes differences between users in respect to these
activities.

Indigenous psychology refers
to psychology that is born out of the experience, thought and orientation of
the indigenous people. The purpose of my sabbatical research is to
look at the achievements of indigenous psychology in terms of
theory-building. I have selected the Philippines, Taiwan and Japan as
location for this study. For this talk, will discuss some of the
findings from the Philippines and Taiwan, and invite comments about the
situation in Japan. I will also discuss some of the issues relevant to
the development and promotion of indigenous psychology in these two
countries.

演題:Positive orientation and optimal psychological functioning
日時:9/11 17:00〜18:30
場所:東京大学本郷キャンパス 法文2号館第3会議室
要旨:
Previous
findings attest to the stability over the course of life and to the
generality across cultures, of positive orientation as a
pervasive mode of viewing at the world and facing reality. Positive
orientation affects the ways people construe theire experience and
predispose to action. Current findings point to
self efficacy beliefs as instrumental to change positive orientation in view
of optimal functioning.
