研究の概要

集団主義的傾向の比較文化的研究

集団主義的傾向は，日本でだけ見られるものではない．さらに，集団主義的な文化のもとでも，個人差がみられる．最近，この個人差を測定する尺度を開発し，これまでに日本をはじめ，韓国・米国で実証研究を行った．また，資源の配分との関係について，米国・オーストラリア・韓国・ポーランド・イランでの比較研究を行った。現在は、集団主義的傾向と、集団として環境をコントロールしようとする傾向との関連を研究している。

個人の集団内行動

個人の集団内行動は，集団から独立している場合の行動と，多くの場合異なっている．また，他者の行動を観察する場合でも，その行動が集団の影響下で行われた場合と，そうでないときとでは，異なった判断がなされることが多い．こうした点について，実験的研究を行っている．

甘えに関する研究

日本人に特有な心理的傾向と考えられている「甘え」については，実証的な研究が少ない．そこで，この問題について日本人を対象としてデータを収集を行い、ほぼ分析を終えたところである。将来は，日本人の甘えと同様の現象が，他のアジア文化や西欧の文化でも見られるかどうかを問題とする予定である．

その他

以上のほか，自分自身を評価するときに他者との比較を行う「社会的比較」現象にも興味を持ち，実験的研究を行っている．
